I have been procrastinating on making another back garden transformation post because I am constantly working on it and can’t actually keep up to write something. My last post was here. It looks so different than it did months ago, but it still has piles of everything, everywhere! But it is starting to take shape and a plan is forming. Many plans I should say… The shade is really appreciated during the heatwaves so I like spending time back there. And that gives me a lot of inspiration for how I want this part of the garden to look and function.

Shed

Our shed is probably the coolest (temperature wise) place we have right now, so it’s been a nice treat to have while I work in the garden. We’ve replaced the old door and are now able to lock it up. But our windows and some bits still need fixed. All of the damp on the exterior has dried out now that the wooden shed is away, but it will still need repaired eventually. I did a big clean inside last week and it’s really starting to look nice!! I also found a slab in front of the door, and am working on putting in a gravel path up to it-maybe this week?

Greenhouse

I have been getting tons of use out of the greenhouse this summer, with broken panes and all. I did get all of the gravel out which we will be reusing for our path I mentioned above, and I’ll be putting something fresh down in the greenhouse once I can replace the glass. It’s really not high up on my list to finish because it’s something I can work on late in the fall when I’m running low on gardening jobs.

Other Bits

I leveled the ground out between the shed and greenhouse and to put down a small patio with garden bed around. My plan is to use broken slabs and grow moss in between and have a very green, calming area. We are going to put climbing dog rose in between the tree stumps to give us some privacy, and a mixed flower bed along the glasshouse. I would like to maybe have an archway at the front to enclose it even more, maybe grow jasmine on it for the sweet smell. And possibly a small fountain for ambience. 🙂

Another huge check off our list was getting our leylandii trimmed back. We would like to fully replace them with native trees, but that’s a very long term project. For now we decided it was best to cut them back to manage them. It has let a lot of new light in and opened up the space completely. We couldn’t believe the difference!

I’ve just started a cute little stumpery next to the shed that I’ll be posting soon, it might be my new favorite garden spot. 🙂 The back is constantly changing so it’s been tough to keep up with posts, I can’t even remember what I have already posted!
