I’ve got sooo many updates for the back garden that I’m having trouble condensing it into one post. Luckily, I have lots of flowers to show off instead! All of my tulips are blooming now and I am so in love with them. It helps that they are so easy, garner no interest from the slugs and other pests, and are stunningly beautiful. Now I am a tulip grower for life!

I grew all of them in pots this year because I was working in the garden beds all winter. I bought a few bags of “pink” tulips from a grocery store but they are coming up in mauve, peach, and red. All of them very tall too! It’s been my favorite spring habit to go outside and see how they are coming along.

I also cleaned up a couple of my front pots! I was going to leave them until closer to summer, but thought they’d look so sad next to my pretty tulips. There wasn’t too much to pick from at the garden center this early, but I tried to pick things the slugs might leave alone. So I planted purple aubrieta, pink petunias, and rosey saxifraga. They all have textured foliage that appears to be keeping the slugs away. (I also have two pansies that are still going from last year, but the slugs have just discovered one of them, rip).

I’ve got big hopes for my tulips next year, now that I know they do so well. Oh I nearly forgot! Here is one grape hyacinth for the road.
